Corona Virus GOOD NEWS

A 13-year-old boy decided to open a pantry outside his house where elderly people can pick up essential groceries without putting themselves at risk by going to supermarkets. Alfie Dean, from Torquay, opened The Babbacombe Pantry where he puts out items like milk, bread, and tinned food every morning.
Elderly people can visit the pantry take what they need and donate whatever they like. The kind-hearted teenager said he’s already seen around 20 people use the service, which he wanted to set up because there’s a big elderly community in Babbacombe.

Switzerland has taken looking out for your neighbour to an international level, showing support for Italy by lighting up the side of a mountain in the Alps.
Authorities beamed up a light show onto the Matterhorn throughout the week with messages about the coronavirus outbreak including “hope” and “stay at home”.

On Saturday night, the colours of the Italian flag decorated the mountain top, which lies on the border between the two countries. The tourism board of Zermatt – a village at the bottom of the Mattherhorn – said: “Italy is the country in Europe most affected by the coronavirus pandemic and located just behind the Matterhorn. Thanks to the people in Italy who are currently on the front line and are committed to fighting the emergency: the doctors, the medical staff, the volunteers, the police, the fire brigade and everyone else who is protecting and saving lives”.

Seamstresses in Posadas, a small town in southern Spain, came up with the idea of turning their hands to make desperately needed masks. Soon 80 volunteers in the town were sewing away to make masks. Police come to collect them and take them to hospitals. The material was donated by the fashion label Palomo Spain. The idea has caught on across the country, with Spaniards using any spare material to create the badly needed masks.
