In a time where everything seems so, so bad, there are glimpses of happiness and hope. There are so many people offering to help others, help to our key workers, neighbours and even strangers. These acts of kindness aren’t being reported much so we plan to scour the world for good news stories and share them on here – feel free to raise a smile and share.
Good News Today:
Elderly people can visit the pantry take what they need and donate whatever they like. The kind-hearted teenager said he’s already seen around 20 people use the service, which he wanted to set up because there’s a big elderly community in Babbacombe.
Switzerland has taken looking out for your neighbour to an international level, showing support for Italy by lighting up the side of a mountain in the Alps.
Authorities beamed up a light show onto the Matterhorn throughout the week with messages about the coronavirus outbreak including “hope” and “stay at home”.
On Saturday night, the colours of the Italian flag decorated the mountain top, which lies on the border between the two countries. The tourism board of Zermatt – a village at the bottom of the Mattherhorn – said: “Italy is the country in Europe most affected by the coronavirus pandemic and located just behind the Matterhorn. Thanks to the people in Italy who are currently on the front line and are committed to fighting the emergency: the doctors, the medical staff, the volunteers, the police, the fire brigade and everyone else who is protecting and saving lives”.
And finally… with sports fixtures cancelled, many Britons have been left with a vast gap in their viewing and entertainment schedules. One sports commentator has taken a lighthearted look at trying to find entertainment for thousands by commentating on everyday events.
